Council and Committee Meetings

Council is the policy and decision making body for the Town, and meets at 7.00pm on the fourth Monday of every month. The Chief Executive Officer and the Managers also attend Council meetings to assist the Councillors with information as required. The Council meetings follow a formal written agenda, which sets out the order and details of business to be discussed. The Town has three Standing Committees; Development Services, Works and Corporate Services and the Strategic Planning. The recommendations passed at each Standing Commitee lare reported to Council for endorsement and resolution. All Committee meetings are held in the Mayor’s Parlour. Members of the public are welcome to attend Council meetings but are not permitted to take part in Council debates. Rather, a question may be presented during Public Question Time. To help members of the public participate, and enhance relationships with its community, the Council allows public questions to be asked and public statements to be made at Council meetings and briefing sessions (that are open to the public).
