History of Carols by Candlelight in Cottesloe

In 1998, the Town of Cottesloe asked St Phillips Church to partner with them in organising an annual Carols by Candlelight event at the Civic Centre. The first 1998 Carols by Candlelight included Kobe the Christmas Tree segment. Over the ensuring years, crowds of between 1000 and 2000 adults and children, depending largely on the weather, have enjoyed the Carols event. 2012 was our largest crowd yet and was a fantastic night! The 2016 theme is "Bringing Christmas to Life".

People clearly enjoy a relaxed picnic on the Civic Centre Main Lawn followed by carol singing with drama and dance performance segments. The event has become an annual Christmas tradition for many families. It provides a break from the bustle of the Christmas build-up and an opportunity to reflect on the deeper significance of the Christmas Season.
