Harvey Field Precinct Improvements

At the May 2021 Ordinary Council Meeting, Council approved a concept option for the Harvey Field Recreation Precinct including construction of a new Anderson Pavilion.

In 2018 users of Harvey Field (surrounding residents and local sporting clubs) were consulted on a Masterplan for the Recreation Precinct. To make the proposal financially viable, Council has had to prioritise elements for implementation.  The concept option approved at the May 2021 Ordinary Council Meeting allows for a new Anderson Pavilion to be constructed while remaining compatible with the original 2018 Masterplan should Council be in the position to progress other elements in the future.

The long-awaited upgrade of Anderson Pavilion is great news for the many members of the community who use these facilities – young players and their families. The $1.4 million upgrade will be jointly funded by the Town and State Government grants. The Town’s contribution is budgeted at $1 million combined with $400,000 received from the Department of Local Government’s Community Sport Recreation Facilities Fund.

The design and construction of the new Anderson Pavilion will commence with a tender recommendation to be brought to a Council Meeting for a contractor to be appointed for the works.

The proposed fencing on the western side of Harvey Field is to protect users of the sports precinct from stray golf balls. This will be designed in a way which will preserve the view corridor for surrounding residents.
