Cottesloe Foreshore Upgrades Complete

Published on Tuesday, 3 November 2020 at 12:00:00 PM

These works involved upgrades to terrace retaining walls, refurbishment of stairs on the grass terrace at Cottesloe main beach (top section of stairs has been relocated), refurbishment of ramps with new in-built ramp lighting, and construction of new stairs at the end of the accessible path on to the beach, to the south of Indiana.

A key feature of these works is the new stairs at the end of the accessible path at Cottesloe main beach. The stairs have been constructed with high grade concrete to ensure they will withstand harsh coastal conditions for many years to come. Additional steps have been built below the current sand level to allow for the rise and fall of the beach, providing year round access, even during winter months. A stainless steel handrail runs down the centre and on either side of the stairs are seating terraces. New limestone walls and stainless steel balustrades finish off the area. The beach shower has been relocated nearby away from the edge of the sea wall with areas available for beach users to put belongings down while showering.
