Resignation of Town of Cottesloe Mayor Phil Angers

The Town of Cottesloe has received the resignation of Town Mayor, Phil Angers, effective immediately.

Mr Angers served as a Councillor and then as Deputy Mayor for four years prior to being elected to office in October 2017. His four year term as Mayor was due to finish in October this year however due to health reasons he has made the decision to resign from the position now to focus on his health and wellbeing.

Matthew Scott, Town of Cottesloe Chief Executive Officer thanked the Mayor for his years of service. “On behalf of the Town I would like to thank Mayor Angers for his years of service to the community and to Council, and his achievements over these years.

“The Town understands this was not an easy decision for Mayor Angers to make, and we wish him all the very best as he takes some time now to concentrate on his health.”

Mayor Angers said, “Thank you to the Town’s administration staff and my fellow Councillors for their hard work and commitment over the years, my time on Council has been very rewarding.

“It is disappointing to resign only a few months before the end of my tenure however it is necessary for me to take the time to look after my health and wellbeing now.

“I step down with the firm knowledge that Deputy Mayor Lorraine Young is both capable and experienced to take over my duties until the general election in October.”
