$76,707 - $82,888 per year + Superannuation, pro rata FTE 0.4

 

The Town of Cottesloe is seeking an enthusiastic, confident and experienced Payroll Officer to fulfil the duties as described in the Position Description below:

About the Opportunity 

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Payroll Officer to join the Finance Team. This role involves end to end payroll processing for Town of Cottesloe employees and ensuring information processed is in accordance with legislative requirements and Council’s policies and procedures. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;

  • Process the fortnightly payroll for all employees using Civica Authority (current system) and any future system requirements

  • Carry out data entry and maintain employee payroll records in compliance with relevant Acts, Awards, National Employment Standards, Enterprise Agreements or contracts

  • Reconcile payroll fortnightly with the general ledger and resolve any discrepancies

  • Process new starters, terminations and payroll adjustments as directed

  • Calculate and apply pay adjustments such as allowances, leave, overtime, penalty rates, higher duties, deductions and increments

  • Generate Payment Summaries through Single Touch Payroll (STP) for all employees annually.

  • Assist with audits in regards to payroll queries

  • Accurately respond to a broad range of payroll queries and requests in a timely manner

  • Ensure pay advice and record keeping is maintained and issued in accordance with requirements under the applicable Industrial Legislation

  • Carry out other duties as requested by management which may be reasonably expected within the scope of the classification level and skill base of the employee

 

Location and Hours 

This position is permanent part-time position working Monday to Friday, 30.4 hours per fortnight (FTE 0.4).

Selection Criteria 

Essential

  • Significant practical experience as a Payroll Officer

  • Diploma or certificate in payroll administration, or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the application and interpretation of Awards and

     Enterprise Agreements in a payroll context

  • Strong mathematical and numeracy skills

  • Sound demonstrated knowledge of Taxation and Superannuation requirements

  • Excellent attention to detail and accurate data entry skills

  • Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision, and use professional judgement where appropriate

  • Organised, methodical and able to meet strict deadlines

  • Excellent internal customer service

  • Demonstrated understanding of the meaning of and requirement for confidentiality

  • High level computer skills including experience using payroll software

  • Advanced MS Office skills, especially Excel and Word

 

Desirable

  • Experience using Civica Authority software

  • Experience in the Local Government sector

 

Appointment Criteria

  • Current National Police Clearance (within six months)

  • Pre-employment Medical Clearance

  • Evidence of Australian working rights

  • Evidence of Qualifications (as relevant)
