Cottesloe Quintets with Chimera Ensemble
Past Event
Violinist Rebecca Glorie and cellist Melinda Forsythe are founding members of Chimera Ensemble, and are being joined by WASO principal violist Daniel Schmitt, violinist Andrea Mendham, and double bassist Giovanni Vinci, to perform String Quintet no. 20 in D minor, op.45, by one of the leading composers of the first half of the nineteenth century, French composer George Onslow. Onslow’s music has been ‘forgotten’ since the mid-nineteenth century but has been revived and performed more often since 1984 when it was ‘re-discovered’ on the bi-centennial of his birth. The musicians will also perform the popular and beloved String Quintet no. 2 in G Major, op.77 by Czech composer Antonín Dvorák.
Chimera Ensemble was a regular performer in the Town of Cottesloe's Music For Pleasure concert series, so Cottesloe residents may remember attending their concerts.
