About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to work with us 3 days/week.
This role will provide professional advice and guidance to residents, builders and developers while ensuring the Town's building applications, approvals and compliance activities are administered in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and process building applications in accordance with applicable legislation, standards, codes and local laws.
- Issue building permits within legislative timeframes.
- Conduct inspections of construction projects, completed buildings and private swimming pools to ensure compliance.
- Provide timely and professional building advice to the community, Council and internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and continuous service enhancement.
- Build positive working relationships with residents, builders, developers, contractors and government agencies.

Essential Criteria:
- Degree in Applied Science (Building Surveying) or other recognised qualification relevant to Building Surveying. Current registration as a level two Building Surveyor.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and building codes.
- Minimum two years' experience, preferably within a Local Government authority.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, together with strong customer service skills.
- High standards of accuracy and quality-control with a level of attention to detail.
- Well-developed negotiation, decision making and analytical skills.
