Private events at Cottesloe Civic Centre

Cottesloe Civic Centre and surrounding grounds are a popular venue for weddings and other private events. Private events may take place on the lawns, and public access to these areas could be limited during the event (including setting up and packing down an event).

A schedule of events booked for the current month is available below. Please note that these times are subject to change at short notice. For future dates please refer to our SpacetoCo Online Booking Platform.

The Town of Cottesloe Noise Restriction Policy mandates that all sound and audio volumes must be reduced by 10:00pm and completely switched off by 11:00pm. Please contact the Town at events@cottesloe.wa.gov.au with any questions or concerns in regard to this.

Current protocol for Noise issues :

What do I do if elevated Event noise persists after 10:00 pm?     When experiencing a noise issue in Western Australia, the following steps apply:

  1. Initial step: Politely approach the event organiser or property owner, as they may be unaware of the disturbance.
  2. If excessive noise persists after 10:00 pm: If the noise is causing a community disturbance and is urgent, one-off, or antisocial, contact WA Police on 131 444.
    a. During your call, ensure you request and take note of the Police Incident Report Number as this is required by Council to verify your complaint.
    b. Notify Council: Email the Town of Cottesloe – town@cottesloe.wa.gov.au - with your full contact details, the time of the disturbance, it’s location and, importantly, the Incident Report Number. Council will follow up with the event owner, organiser and Police.
Event Managers and Venue Hirers are accountable for noise regulation breaches, and each reported incident will be dealt with accordingly – read below.
  3. What actions are the Town taking to reduce Event noise After 10:00 pm?
The Town has limited capacity to respond to noise issues in real time. To address this, the Town has strengthened its procedures by requiring event organisers to sign a Declaration when collecting event function keys and/or responding to confirmation emails regarding their event. This Declaration confirms that failure to comply with the event venue Terms and Conditions, including those relating to noise complaints, will result in forfeiture of the Venue bond.
  4. While this approach does not prevent disturbances from occurring, it provides the Town with clear authority to take enforcement action.
In addition, the Town is currently progressing a tender process for an Event Management service provider. The tender will require respondents to demonstrate how events will be managed in compliance with the Town’s Terms and Conditions, including effective noise management measures.
