The Town of Cottesloe is pleased to invite our community to the 2025 Frederick Bell VC Memorial Lecture, an annual event hosted by the Cottesloe RSL Sub-Branch to honour Western Australia’s first Victoria Cross recipient, Lieutenant Frederick William Bell VC.

The Frederick Bell VC Memorial Lecture is proudly supported by the Town of Cottesloe and will be held in the War Memorial Town Hall at Cottesloe Civic Centre on Friday, 14 November at 6pm (for a 6.30pm start).

This year’s guest speaker is the Honourable Jonathan Huston MLA, Member for Nedlands. Mr Huston will share insights into the life, leadership, and legacy of Kevin “Dasher” Wheatley VC, an Australian hero of the Vietnam War, whose selfless actions in 1965 saved a comrade’s life and earned him the nation’s highest military honour. Mr Huston will explore both the man behind the medal, and the meaning of courage in service to others.
