Australia Day event

Monday 26th January 2026

This special day will see us come together to welcome new citizens and recognise outstanding community members as we present the Town’s Community Citizen of the Year Awards.

The event will begin with a Welcome to Country by Robyn Collard, a Whadjuk Ballardong Yorga Elder, who will be accompanied by a didgeridoo performance delivered by her grandson.

New citizens will be welcomed during a Citizenship Ceremony, and the recipients of the Town of Cottesloe Community Citizen Awards will be announced, and presented with their awards.

The Town will also welcome Australia Day Ambassador Darryl Davenport. Darryl has been a ballroom dancer since the age of six, a teacher for more than thirty years, achieved champion titles, and has championed inclusion, representation, and equal opportunity to ensure dance is open to all. In 2025, Darryl was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in recognition of his outstanding services to Dance Sports.

Following official proceedings guests will enjoy a complimentary indigenous themed morning tea and a sausage sizzle.

Our community is invited to join us on Monday, 26 January in the War Memorial Hall at Cottesloe Civic Centre from 9am (ceremony to commence at 9.30am).
