The Town of Cottesloe is inviting community feedback on a proposal by Alchemy Sauna for the rooftop of the North Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club (NCSLSC) ski shed at 151 Marine Parade.
What is being proposed?
Alchemy Sauna has submitted a proposal to construct a single-storey sauna building on part of the ski shed roof, along with upgrades to the adjoining public space including seating, shade, water bottle refill station and artwork. The proposed operating hours are 5am to 9pm daily, with a maximum of 22 people per hour.
The proposal is for Council’s consideration only and is not a formal development application. As the site is reserved ‘Regional Open Space’, the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) is the final decision-maker. We are sharing it with the community now because your feedback matters and will directly inform the Town's consideration of the matter. The Town's role is to gather community views, form a recommendation, and submit that to the WAPC for its determination.
The NCSLSC holds a lease with the Town over parts of the foreshore reserve. If the proposal proceeds, the lease would need to be amended to allow the Club to sublease the ski shed roof to Alchemy Sauna.
Community Information Session - 13 June
A ‘drop in’ information session will also be held on Saturday 13 June from 9.30am to 11.30am at the Lesser Hall, 109 Broome St.
You can attend any time during this information session to view plans and take the opportunity to ask questions to the applicant about what is proposed.
