Local Government elections are coming! For Cottesloe, voting is by postal vote, and voting packages will reach your letterboxes in late September. Completed voting packages can be returned by mail using the pre-paid envelope provided. They can also be delivered by hand to the Town’s Administration Office during business hours before election day, or delivered (before 6pm) to the Lesser Hall on election day. If voting papers are lost, replacement papers can be collected from the Town’s Administration office, or you can vote in person on election day.
We encourage you to spend a few minutes to vote in the election and have your say on who will form our new Council.
Candidate details will be included in the voting papers and are also available here.
Changes to the Local Government Act have abolished the old ward system that previously existed in Cottesloe, and introduced Optional Preferential voting. You can vote for as many of the candidates as you wish, by numbering your preferences. Preferences play an important part in determining the results of the election, and so electors should be mindful of that when casting their votes. Further information about voting is available here.
Participation in local elections is your opportunity to ensure a strong, functional Council. Please ensure your voice is heard.
