FOGO Three Bin System

From 6 June 2022, Cottesloe is Good to FOGO.

All single residences have changed to a FOGO service, as well as duplexes and triplexes. Residents who are good to FOGO from 6 June, were sent a letter in early May advising how the change would be implemented. The delivery of kitchen caddies occurred during the week of 23 to 27 May 2022.  The Town's waste contractors will have applied a FOGO sticker to your lime green bin lid and attached your new kitchen caddy.  Inside the kitchen caddy were two rolls of compostable caddy liners, your 2022-2023 waste and recycling calendar and a How to FOGO pamphlet. If your lime green lidded bin was not out, your bin lid sticker may have been inside the caddy or letterbox.

The lime green lidded FOGO bin will now be collected weekly and your red lidded general waste bin and the yellow lidded recycle bin will be collected fortnightly on alternate weeks.

Additional kitchen caddies and rolls of compostable caddy liners can be purchased from the Town.

Apartment and strata property residents who are interested in changing to the FOGO 3 bin system, should email the Town to register their interest. The Town will supply kitchen caddies, FOGO bins and materials to assist residents to make the change. Until your strata complex changes, please continue to place your bins out on the usual schedule.

FOGO

What is FOGO?

FOGO stands for Food Organics Garden Organics. Residents can now place their food waste into the green bin, thus reducing the amount of waste the Town sends to landfill. The contents from the green bin will be turned into high-quality compost. This will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and have a positive impact on our environment.  Under the State Government's Waste Strategy, all metropolitan councils will need to introduce the new three bin FOGO system by 2025.
