Casual Pool - Parking Officers/Rangers

The Town of Cottesloe is seeking applications from experienced and committed parking officers/rangers to work in our Compliance and Regulatory Services team in a casual pool of Ranger/Parking staff operating largely throughout the summer months and on weekends.


About the Role

This is a casual pool from which successful candidates will be rostered as needed to cover the busier summer months (7.00 AM – 7.00 PM) at the Town of Cottesloe. The successful candidates will have well developed interpersonal skills including strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills; as well as a demonstrated understanding of relevant Local Government law enforcement legislation and practices. Previous ranger experience is desirable but not essential.


Key Accountabilities

  • Parking and local law enforcement including carrying out regular patrols and thorough inspections of car parks, ticketing, chalking and issuing of infringements in alignment with relevant legislation.
  • Provide prompt, empathetic and efficient customer service when dealing with customers to meet their needs.
  • Assist the Town of Cottesloe's Ranger Services team in regards to animal control, fire prevention, camping, off road vehicles and litter etc. as required.

Position Requirements

Successful applicants will ideally have relevant qualifications and experience for the position. Past experience in a ranger position will be well regarded.


  • Demonstrated experience in providing high quality customer service
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with aggressive or difficult people
  • Demonstrated experience in parking law enforcement and patrols
  • Current ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence (must remain valid at all times)
  • Current National Police Clearance
  • Pre-Employment Medical Clearance


  • Certificate in Municipal Law A and B (highly desirable)
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate  

Remuneration and Benefits

An hourly rate of $41.83 per hour will be offered to the successful candidates.
