Paid parking to bring easier access to Cottesloe town centre

The Town of Cottesloe is set to introduce paid parking in key areas of the Cottesloe Town Centre, after councilors voted unanimously at the August Ordinary Council Meeting to adopt the changes.

The new parking measures aim to make it easier for residents, shoppers and visitors to find a parking bay in the busy town centre.

They respond to growing community concerns about parking availability, with Town Centre parking areas regularly reaching full capacity during peak times.

Data shows that existing time-limit restrictions are not aligning with how parking is being used, with frequent overstays reducing the turnover of bays and limiting access for others.

By introducing a simple hourly parking model, the Town aims to encourage fairer use of parking spaces, improve turnover, and increase availability for people visiting local businesses, services and attractions.

Protecting the interests of nearby residents remains a key priority.

Residential parking permits and targeted parking management measures will be introduced to minimise potential spillover into surrounding streets and help ensure residents continue to have reasonable access to parking near their homes.

The Town will continue to monitor parking demand across the area and implement additional measures where required to address emerging pressures.

The changes are expected to take effect in late 2026, with the community kept informed and engaged throughout the planning and implementation process.
