Melissa Harkins has been an Elected Member at the Town of Cottesloe since 2017.

Melissa has extensive experience in the tourism, hospitality and events sectors and draws on a background in event and conference management, hotel management, front office and food and beverage in Australia and internationally.  Melissa worked for five star hotels in London and Canada before returning to Australia to work for Hyatt properties on the Gold Coast, Canberra and Sydney. Back in Perth, Melissa worked in Conference Management and ran author events programs for visiting international and high profile authors, sporting stars and celebrity chefs.

Melissa is also a trained educator and has taught at local high schools and lectured in Tourism, Hospitality and Events at a degree level.

Melissa has lived in Cottesloe for over 20 years and is passionate about improving the infrastructure in the Town, particularly along the foreshore and spaces of recreation, such as playgrounds and reserves.
