Proposed Cottesloe Skate Park - Grant Marine Park (Closed)

SKATE PARK PROPOSAL – FEEDBACK INVITED

In response to interest from our community, the Town of Cottesloe undertook a feasibility study in 2018 to identify a possible location for a skate park. The study looked at six potential sites and identified one – Grant Marine Park - as a suitable location.

The Town would now like to gain further insight on the aspirations for a skate park in Cottesloe and the proposed location of Grant Marine Park. We are asking residents and the wider community to let us know their thoughts.

The Town’s Strategic Community Plan has identified improvements to public open space as a priority. We have also identified the challenge in providing amenities and meeting the needs of the Town’s youth. It is proposed that a skate park at Grant Marine Park be considered as part of the playground upgrade at this location, which was rated as a high priority in the Town’s Public Open Space and Playground Strategy, adopted by Council in November 2019.

A skate park at Grant Marine Park is currently at a proposal stage and any design of a skate park at the preferred location would only proceed based on feedback received from our community and consideration and approval by Council.

At the 26 May 2020 Ordinary Council Meeting, Council approved the Enlocus Skate Park Feasibility Report (available below) and the Community Engagement Plan for the purpose of Public Consultation. This report (SKATE PARK PROPOSAL – COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT) is available to read in the 26 May 2020 Minutes.

The survey will be available from Monday, 15 June until 4pm on Friday, 10 July.
