Cottesloe Skatepark Project

Construction of the Cottesloe skate park at John Black Dune Park has begun.

In March 2023 the Town announced it was successful in its application for funding from Lotterywest, securing a $743,900 grant which will cover the cost of the skate park.

Following the successful grant application, the Town advertised a design and construct tender for the skate park, which was awarded at a Special Council Meeting held in May 2023 to PHASE3 Landscape Construction, a Perth based landscape architecture and design firm. PHASE3 Landscape Construction developed concept plans and construction drawings for the skate park, which were then presented to and adopted by Council.

Town of Cottesloe Mayor Lorraine Young said, “The Town has been working on this project for some time and we thank our community for their interest and involvement – early consultation on this project demonstrated strong support for the Cottesloe skate park and we are pleased to be delivering another outdoor space for children, young people and families in our community to use and enjoy for the future.”

The Cottesloe skate park includes a bowl, a plaza area, a hang-out area and a pump track.

The Town will continue to work with Cottesloe Coastcare and Perth NRM on the revegetation of John Black Dune Park. Staged revegetation will include planting native and waterwise plants around the skate park, providing additional public open space for the community.

Final Concept Plan

A skate facility in the Town of Cottesloe is one step further after the concept design was approved at the February 2022 Council Meeting.

Thank you to the skaters in our community who took part in the design workshops and online survey late last year. Convic, the consultants on this project, incorporated the feedback received and a concept design for a family friendly skate park with a pool style bowl, street skate area and pump track was presented to and accepted by Council. Acceptance of the concept design has enabled the Town to seek grant funding for the detail design and construction of the skate facility. As part of this, the Town will develop a concept plan for native revegetation for the whole of John Black Dune Park in partnership with Cottesloe Coastcare and Perth NRM.
