Boatshed Market - 40 Jarrad Street, Cottesloe

 The Town has received a planning application to change the licensed area on the mezzanine floor inside the Boatshed Market from 54m2  to 119mto permit the following services:

  • Regular and structured tasting activities;

  • Exclusive tasting events and functions;

  • Wine master-classes;

  • Product promotional events and functions;

  • Food and liquor matching tastings, events and functions.

The function will be limited to a maximum of 50 persons at any one time, not require any significant change to the delivery of food and wine and may be ticketed or invitation only and attract a fee.


The proposed days/hours of operation of the function area will be:

  • 9am - 8pm Monday to Saturday, but sometimes to 9pm;

  • 10am - 8pm Sundays, but sometimes to 9pm


Please note that a corresponding application is being made to the Department of Racing, Gaming and Liquor for the necessary liquor license, and that process will also involve public advertising. It is separate from but related to this planning application to the Town for development approval.

North Street Store - 16 North Street, Cottesloe

The Town has received an application to use and/or develop land for the following purpose and public comments are invited.  A brief summary of the applicant’s submission is as follows:

LOT: 8 D/P: 12105 - 16 North Street COTTESLOE

Proposal: Extension to non conforming use (Retrospective Planning Approval)


The North Street Store is to proposing to provide:

  • Bread and other bakery products;

  • Coffee;

  • Short order cooking for breakfast and lunch;

  • Takeaway dinners; and

  • A limited range of basic cooking provisions such as milk, eggs, flour, garlic, butter and some deli items.


The proposed days/hours of operation are:

  • 7.00am to 9.00pm Monday to Saturday (front courtyard area 8.00am ­ 7.00pm)

  • 8.00am to 7.00pm Sunday (front courtyard area 10.00am to 7.00pm)


Customers may be able to sit and chat in a dedicated decked eating area in the front courtyard adjoining North Street which may be partially enclosed, fully enclosed, or not enclosed at all, the latter being the applicant’s preference.


 The application also includes, amongst other things, the following details:

  • An extension to the existing front awning and a ramp;

  • Up to eight staff being on-site at any one time, based on current demand;

  • Parking for staff vehicles six (6) on-site, including a disabled bay and bicycle parking;

  • A new garage/carport and partially enclosed delivery area with 7.71m long by 2.7m high wall along the eastern boundary;

  • An east-facing servery window;

  • Partial replacement/relocation of fencing along Elizabeth Street;

  • The existing driveway/crossover being widened to 6m with a sliding gate; and

  • New landscaping.

Comments on the proposal may be submitted to the Town, in writing, on or before Friday, 22 November 2019. Please be advised that your written submissions may be published in the Council agenda and that previous submissions may not be taken into consideration.
