State Development Assessment Unit

Under the Planning and Development Act 2005 (as amended by the Planning and Development Amendment Act 2020), a newly introduced Part 17 grants the Western Australian Planning Commission temporary decision-making powers to determine proposals of State or regional significance, with a project value of over $20 million in metropolitan Perth, and over $5 million in regional areas. 

The newly formed State Development Assessment Unit falls within the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage and forms part of the Department's Land Use Planning Division.
